HomeMy Public PortalAboutapr PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES April 15th, 2009 – Legion Hall, McCall, Idaho 83638 – 6:00 PM I. CALL TO ORDER Shorty Clarke called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Members present were Brigid Wiking, Nathan Stewart, Jenny Ruemmele, Carl Barrett, Shorty Clarke and Shawn Treasure. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Shawn Treasure made the motion to approve the minutes. Brigit Wiking seconded the motion with some additions to the minutes. All approved. III. INTRODUCTION OF GUEST No guest IV. OLD BUSINESS RECREATION a.) Adult Volleyball th Adult volleyball started March 15. We are getting low attendance, but will continue for one more week. PARKS a.) Brown Park Restroom Staff is under way to refurbishing brown parks restroom and it just about completed. b.) Art Roberts Easement Explained that we have an opportunity to acquire lake frontage easement from Mr. Fereday if we would allow him access through Art Roberts Park for power to his building. Nathan asked to be part of the discussions this spring with Mr. Fereday. c.) LWCF Grant th Presented in Boise on March 15 with carol. Asking for $75,000 for the forest service property next to Riverfront Park. We were recommended as the number one presenters and will hear in May if we are awarded. V. NEW BUSINESS RECREATION a.) Youth Softball/Baseball Youth softball/baseball signups start shortly and we should have about 90 participants. b.) Chili Cook off th Shorty Clarke will be hosting a biannual chili cook off at Depot Park on August 16. c.) Bike Brochure Bike brochure is completed and copies a thousand copies are being made and will be ready to distribute in May. d.) Adult Softball Tournaments We have been contacted by two boiseian who are interested in running Adult Softball Tournaments this summer. We will work closely with these groups to see if we can make them successful. PARKS a.) Parks Reservation Updated the parks reservation to allow dance floors east of the fish pen docks at Brown Park. b.) Noxious Weeds Working on updating our noxious weed program to include GIS work and getting more information to the public via water and sewer bills, door hangers and additional advertising in the paper. c.) Payette Lake Cup Permit Brigit Wiking made the motion to approve the payette lake cup permit for four mooring spots per submitted letter. Shorty Clarke seconded and all were in favor. d.) Budget priorities for 2010 Staff and Shorty Clarke presented information to the Committee that detailed budget priorities that prepares us for our April department head/Advisory Luncheon at the golf course. VI. SET NEXT MEETING AND AGENDA th Next meeting May 12, 2009, 6pm at Legion Hall The City of McCall’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meetings are held open to the public and handicapped accessible.
