HomeMy Public PortalAbout2010.10.20 PRAC MinutesPARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES October 20, 2010 — Legion Hall, McCall, Idaho 83638 — 6:00 pm I. CALL TO ORDER Shorty Clarke called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Members present were, Shorty Clarke, Carl Barrett, Ed Roper, Brigid Lawrence, Jenny Ruemmele, Dan Engelbreit and Irwin Mulnick. Staff Present for the meeting: Dennis Coyle, Director II. Minutes from June, August and September approved. III. INTRODUCTION OF GUEST None IV. NEW BUSINESS Staff announced the granting of the easements from IDL and the Simplot Corporation. Discussion concerning the construction timeline occurred. The boat ramp toilet was discussed and what options are available for construction. Project updates on Rotary Park, Riverfront Park and the museum. Mr. Clarke explained the MIC request for flower boxes in three areas along 3`d street. Discussion concerning maintenance costs. Mr. Clarke explained they would be planted by MIC and requires no watering. Mr. Clarke also invited Board members to the MIC meeting 10.28 to discuss code enforcement with Officer Rittenger. Ms. Ruemmele stated that it would be her desire to see the next board member be a city resident. Riverfront Park was discussed. Ms. Lawrence commented on the editorial in the Star News. Staff explained the time frame for public involvement concerning the park Coyle explained the Idaho Dept. of Health and Welfare program for making parks smoke free. Mr. Clarke explained that this has been discussed last year and the board is in favor of pursuing this. Mr. Mulnick voiced concerns with the Skate Park and targeting youth. Coyle will contact Health and Welfare and schedule a meeting. V. Old Business Dennis explained the maintenance management system for the parks dept. Work will begin in November. Equipment priorities were discussed. Staff is pursuing UTV's and one truck for purchase. Mr. Barrett volunteered to help with the selection of the compact pickup. VI. Open Discussion Mr. Mulnick mentioned the Bear Basin Bash. It is a community event to raise awareness for the trail system. All were encouraged to attend. Ms. Ruemmele mentioned the RAC Grant that CIMBA received to sign trails and do some maintenance. VII. Next Meeting November 17, 2010 Meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm. Jim Clarke Chairman I tt /a Ddte 1 "
