A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD APPROVING CONTRACT CHANGE ORDERS AND AUTHORIZING STAFF
TO OBTAIN INFORMAL BIDS FOR CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE WORK FOR THE
LONG BEACH BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - PHASE IIA
WHEREAS, on April 18, 1989, the City Council awarded the
' Phase IIA construction contract to Sully Miller Contracting Company,
based on its low bid of $557,369.60; and
WHEREAS, Change Orders No. 2, 3, and 4 are needed to
remove /relocate and /or modify a number of fire hydrants, water
services, sewer manholes, fences, and other improvements not
addressed in the original plans; and
WHEREAS, staff has negotiated the cost for the extra
work with the contractor and found them to be reasonable and that
this extra work be best performed by this contractor; and
WHEREAS, other tasks such as removal of business signs
and other private improvements from the public right of way, will
be more expeditiously and efficiently done through an informal
bid process.
WHEREAS, under section 2 -62(c) of the Lynwood Municipal
Code, Council can authorize implementation of projects through
informal bids by a 4/5 vote.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
' Section 1. Approve Contract Change Orders No. 2, 3 and
4 in the amounts of $16,900.00, $17,970.00 and $15,925.00
respectively.
Section 2. Authorize staff to obtain informal bids
for relocating signs and incidentals not to exceed $30,000.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED THIS 11th day of
September , 1989.
