A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH CENTRAL AND
WEST BASIN REPLENISHMENT DISTRICT
' WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood imports approximately 40%
of its water from MWD; and
WHEREAS, imported MWD water is more expensive than
locally produced water; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood may take advantage of MWD
discounted water and realize an annual savings of $81,406.40; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood wishes to provide its
businesses and residents with a dependable water - source; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood may use the $81,406.40
savings to rehabilitate, repair, modify, and otherwise improve
its water production and conveyance facilities to provide a
dependable water source; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the City authorizes the Public Works
Director /City Engineer to enter into a contractual agreement with
the Central and West Basin Replenishment District for the purpose
of purchasing discounted water.
Section 2. That the Director of Public Works /City
Engineer is authorized to utilize the realized savings through
implementation of Section 1 to rehabilitate, repair, modify, and
otherwise improve the City's water production and conveyance
facilities.
Section 3. That the Director of Public Works /City
Engineer is authorized to have a remotely controlled flow
regulatory valve system installed at the City's connection with
the MWD.
' Section 4. That the City Council hereby finds and
determines that installation of the valve system can be completed
more expeditiously and efficiently through informal bids.
Section 5. This resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
WHEREAS,
the City must
install a remotely controlled
flow regulatory valve
system at
its connection with the MWD; and
WHEREAS,
the installation
of the remotely controlled
flow regulatory valve
system can
be completed more expeditiously
and efficiently if
done through
an informal bid process; and
WHEREAS,
under Section
2 -62(c) of the Lynwood Municipal
Code, Council can
authorize implementation
of such work through
informal bids by a
4/5 vote.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
