The following were noted present: PRESENT The Clerk stated on January 3, 2013 the 2013 Annual Notice was mailed to The Home News Tribune, The Star Ledger and posted on the Bulletin Board. Notice was published in The Home News Tribune and The Star Ledger on January 8, 2013. The meeting was opened with a minute of silent prayer and The Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Daniel J. Reiman. He explained in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy we had about ten (10) million dollars worth of damage done in public parks and property and over fifty (50) million dollars done in private assets. He spoke on some of the effects of the storm that caused the damages and commented on how our community pulled together helping each other and did not incur a major injury or fatality. He explained how in the aftermath we had residents volunteering in various areas such as the parks, the seniors, the community shelters and at the Library where there was a significant amount of damage including taking all the books off the shelf packing them and then un- packing them and putting them back. He said they had to replace all the floor tiles and carpet and the mold in the walls. Mayor Reiman said the meeting is opened on Resolutions, Payment of Bills and any other business that may come before the Council. Joe C. — He said he received a letter in the mail about paving the streets and then mentioned that the lamp posts being fixed and said he was there on behalf of his neighborhood to thank the town because they seem to be listening to the complaints of the residents. Public Portion on Resolutions /Agenda Items and New Business Joe C. 5 JUNE 6, 2013 Mayor Reiman Mayor Reiman said we try to take action any time there is a complaint or a question or a concern. RESOLUTIONS Cont: Mayor Reiman then asked for a motion on the Consent Agenda. Mayor Reiman Councilmember DiMascio questioned Resolution #18, about the Councilmember liquor license for Padem Patel, if he ws going to use the license. DiMascio Mayor Reiman explained this is a renewal of an inactive license Mayor Reiman that was the old Partners Pub, that became Brothers Bistro. He said the license was purchased out of bankruptcy through a federal bankruptcy trustee so we have been given direction by the Federal Bankruptcy Court to re- activate the license but at the 7 JUNE 6, 2013 moment it remains a pocket license, inactive, so they will have to either sell it or use it in the next two (2) years or it will die. Upon individual roll call vote, Councimembers Bellino, Diaz, DiMascio, Krum, Naples and Sitarz voted in the Affirmative. PAYMENT OF BILLS APPLICATIONS: APPLICATIONS 1. Carteret Volunteer Fire Department -New Members, Vanessa Simms, Dakota Smith, Casey Heughins, Erik Sosa, Wesley Sohail, Michael Fritz, James Gallagher. 2. The Clerk stated that she was in receipt of an Application for Carteret Volunteer Fire Departmemters, Vanessa Simms, Dakota Smith, Casey Heughins, Erik Sosa, Wesley Sohail, Michael Fritz and James Gallagher. Mayor Sica asked Fire Commissioner Krum, in reference to Application #I, if he had to opportunity to review any of the applications for the new members. Fire Commissioner Krum said he would contact Chief Hruska to start the interview process. Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Sitarz and unanimous affirmative vote of the full Council present, it was ordered to be received and placed on file. Mayor Reiman said the police did their background checks but we need to be sure the physical fitness is done. Carteret Fire Dept. New Members 11 JUNE o, 2013 APPLICATIONS Cont: ABC Transfer from IMI Inc. to Carteret Dining, LLC (Holiday Inn) The Clerk stated that she was in receipt of an Application for an ABC License Transfer from IMI Inc. to Carteret Dining, LLC (Holiday Inn). Upon MMS &C by Councilmembers Diaz and Sitarz and unanimous affirmative vote of the full Council present, it was ordered to be received and placed on file. BUSINESS TO BUSINESS TO BE ADDED: BE ADDED Councilmember Councilmember Krum said there was progress in the Fire Krum Department. Councilmember Councilmember DiMascio said finally the guard rail was fixed by DiMasci4. the Turnpike. 12 JUNE 6, 2013 Mayor Reiman said we were set to fix it after threatening to take it to court and we had the bids set up and they just showed up and fixed it. He said part of the issue is we are partnering with Middlesex County to probably file suite against the Turnpike Authority in state court so their improvements at the time that they made them meet federal code in ADA , except access building, no longer meet the codes so we and the county are not taking over any responsibility until they fix what they need to fix. Councilmember DiMascio said he thinks the speed bumps are getting out of hand in our town commenting there are two (2) on Wedgewood Drive where there are fourteen (14) or fifteen (15) houses and there is one (1) on Daniel Street and commented no one cuts through Daniel Street to get out or come into town. and at the same time some people will call and complain so it is a mixed bag. Councilmember DiMascio asked if we could have the corners painted yellow because it is very dangerous in the intersections and referred to the corner of Washington Avenue by the Day Care. Mayor Reiman said they are painted yellow there. Councilmember DiMascio said but they are always parked there. Mayor Reiman said we have just added some SLEO I AND SLEO II who will be focusing on traffic enforcement. He also told Councilmember DiMascio to talk to Mr. Riley about getting them painted and to make sure John DuPont is aware of it. He commented it is twenty -five (25) feet for an intersection. Mayor Reiman said this evening there is another meeting coming up of which there seems to be some residents here. He said he invited them here to see some plans for some storm water management issues they have been dealing with the state and the feds.
