BUDGET UPDATE
Ted reviewed the Main Street operating budget to date and confirmed the proposed FY2014-15 budget is
the same. Chantel reported that the budget is tracked throughout the year, spending is kept conservative
and,to date, each category is good standing. There is available budget for a sign to be added to the
Welcome to Tybee sign at the entrance to the island. A concept that Cullen and she spoke about years
ago was to have the year Tybee was established displayed. She has communicated with the City Manager
and received a mock up and a quote from Doug Bean Signs to install a sign noting EST. 1873. Directors
reviewed and discussed the difference between established and incorporated. Chantel explained that she
conferred with Preservationist, Bob Ciucevich. Tybee was established in 1873 when the first partial of
land was surveyed for building lots on the island. The City of Tybee was incorporated as a governmental
body in 1887. Directors expressed support for adding EST. 1873 at the welcome sign.
CONFIRMATION OF CHAIR,VICE CHAIR,SECRETARY,TREASURER
Directors discussed the need to elect new officers. They requested Chantel send them descriptions of
each. She will follow up with an email including the descriptions according to the by-laws.
ANNUAL BOARD RETREAT
Directors discussed the Annual Board Retreat that will take place at Vicki's on Tybee Saturday, May 3
from gam until 1pm. Chantel thanked Vicki for providing the meeting location. Jessica with the
Department of Community Affairs is looking forward to facilitating the meeting. She has received 39
completed surveys as of this morning.
Directors received a copy of the current work plan per committee. The work plan will be updated
according to the retreat discussions for each of the four points.
Directors reviewed the Main Street Boundaries. Chantel reported that Jessica will be introducing the
possibility of expanding the boundaries to the entire island during the retreat for Directors to consider.
This concept is one that Jessica and the Director of the Office of Downtown Development discussed with
Chantel when she was at the Community Institute Conference. It is a step they are suggesting our local
program take since Tybee is small enough and it will strengthen the foundation we have built and the
partnerships. In addition,we would be the first Main Street Community to go citywide.

appropriate decorative design styles, sensitivity to preservation, how to incorporate credits, and locations
were reviewed. Directors requested that Chantel invite Monty to next Design Committee meeting to
discuss murals since he has been working on it also.
