HomeMy Public PortalAbout160_050_20140421_CRCminutes COMMUNITY RESOURCE COMMITTEE Meeting minutes: April 21, 2014 MEMBERS PRESENT Ron Bossick, Sandy Major, Chantel Morton, Bill O'Brien, Kathryn Propst, Freda Rutherford, Paul Wolff, Ashley Workman CALL TO ORDER Kathryn called the meeting to order at 4:00pm. FEBRUARY 17, 2014 AND MARCH 24, 2014 MINUTES Freda made a motion to approve the Community Resource Committee meeting minutes from February 17, 2014 and March 24, 2014. Bill seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. ANNONCEMENTS Kathryn welcomed Ron Bossick as a new committee member. Sandy announced that she will be discontinuing her CRC involvement due to personal commitments. The committee agreed that they will choose a new Treasurer at the next meeting. REPORTS AND DISCUSSION BYOB Project: Ashley would like to launch the "Bring Your Own Bag" project in June. Recycling Statistics: Sandy confirmed someone will need to take the responsibility of tracking the reports for recycling. Ashley stated she will consider taking on this task. Kathryn reported she is trying to obtain answers from WastePro regarding the inconsistencies between reports. She anticipates answers/ reports will be available within the next day or two. Paul will inquire about having a tour of Pratt for the committee. Committee members will invite a WastePro representative to the next meeting to discuss solid waste versus recycling measures. Fleet Issues: Committee members discussed preparing a point-by-point response to issues about fleet needs for the Police Department. This document will include the recommendation to use an experienced outfitter. OLD BUSINESS Energy Savings Report: Paul asked that the CRC consider using the energy savings ($68,456) from the Memorial Park Project for solar installation on the new Public Safety building. Discussion followed about the proposed projects: insulating the gym roof and new AC units for the old school. The committee decided that the next step is to get the gym bill and evaluate potential savings from the new building versus the gym. CRC approved: 5-19-14 Page 1 of 2 NEW BUSINESS Field Trip to Brunswick CoastScapes: Kathryn proposed a field trip to Brunswick CoastScapes to view native plantings for the public right-a-ways. She suggested having Diane Otto participate in the visit as well. City Printing/Font Suggestion: Freda asked to delay the printing/font discussion until Chantel can be present. Freda said she had heard that upgrades to the North Beach bathroom are being considered in the upcoming budget. She suggested that the committee revisit prior recommendations.
