~A~REAS,it is the determination of the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret that a Recreation Commission pursuant to N.J.S.A.
40:12~13 shall be established to develop recreational, cultural and
entertaxnment programs in the Borough of Carteret.
BE IT ORDAINED that the Mayor and Council establishes a Recreation
Commission. Said Commission shall be composed of seven (7) members
appointed by the Mayor for a term of five (5) yars. The initial
appointments shall be as follows: one person shall be appointed for one
year, two persons shall be appointed for two years, two persons shall be
appointed for three years, one person shall be appointed for four years
and one person shall be appointed for five years. Any person appointed to
fill a vacancy shall be for the unexpired term in which the vacancy
BE IT MORTHER ORDAINED that the Commission shall be empowered to
appoint subcommittees which shall serve at the discretion of the
Commission.
BE IT 1~ ORDAINI~ that the Chairman of the Borough Council's
Park and Recreation Committee shall serve as an ex-officio non-voting
member of the Commission.
BE IT FURTHEI~ ORDAINED that the Commission shall be empowered with
all duties and responsiblities as defined in N.J.S.A. 40:12 et seq.
