A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE APPLICATION
FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR THE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS
WASTE GRANT FUNDS APPLICATION
' WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood recognizes that it is
in the public interest to enact and implement an integrated waste
management plan to address the state's diminishing landfill space
and the potential adverse environmental impacts from landfilling;
and
WHEREAS, funds have been established by Assembly
Bill 2448 (Eastin, 1987), and are available from the Solid Waste
Disposal Site Cleanup and maintenance account in the General Fund
through the California Integrated Waste Management Board for
grants to local governments to establish and implement waste
diversion and separation programs to prevent disposal of
hazardous waste, including household hazardous waste, in solid
landfills.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 : That the City Council authorize the
submittal of an application to the California Integrated Waste
Management Board for a Household Hazardous Waste grant.
SECTION 2: That the City Council authorize and
empowers the City Manager to execute in the name of City of
Lynwood all necessary applications, contracts, and agreements and
amendment hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to
implement and carry out the purposes specified in this
application.
SECTION 3: This resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.
