HomeMy Public PortalAbout92-142 (09-01-92)RESOLUTION NO. 92 -142 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD REQUESTING AN ALLOCATION AND PAYMENT OF COUNTY AID TO CITIES FUND, FY 1989 -90 WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles has appropriated certain monies to the City of Lynwood as County Aid to Cities; and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has adopted policies limiting the use of said monies to regional traffic signal synchronization projects, transportation system management (TSM), and congestion management (CM) projects that improve regional traffic mobility; or the design, acquisition of right of way, and construction of city streets on the County's highway plan which are of general County interest and regional significance; and i WHEREAS, the City Council desires to expend the amount of $76,416 of said funds accrued to the City for projects in accordance with said policies. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows: Section 1. That the County of Los Angeles is hereby requested to allocate $76,416 of the Aid to Cities Funds apportioned to the City for the project listed on Attachment 1 which will improve regional traffic mobility in accordance with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors policy regarding the use of said Aid to Cities Funds. Section 2. After the allocation is approved by the Board of Supervisors and funds are available, the County is requested to send such allocated amount to the City when claimed. The City will begin using the funds for said project listed on Attachment 1 according to the terms of the allocation. Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Los Angeles County Director of Public Works for processing. Section 4. The Mayor shall sign this resolution and the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption thereof. Section 5. This resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its adoption. This project involves the restriping of signalized intersections to provide an additional through lane in each direction at various major intersections throughout the City. These major intersections are located on major arterials, such as Imperial Highway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Atlantic Avenue, and Long Beach Boulevard. Also, a third lane in each direction on Imperial Highway, between Fernwood Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, will be installed, increasing the traffic carrying capacity of the stre
