Citizens Forum No emails sent in before the meeting . Joint Interview and Appointment of Interim Member to Nauset Regional School Committee Chair Easley called the Nauset Regional School Committee meeting to order at 7aWpm . Chair Chaffee stated that there were two candidates, but one withdrew on Friday, June 26th . She went over the process of appointing the interim member . John O' Reilly gave a brief statement on why he is willing to serve in the interim capacity . As a former member of the Committee , he is willing to continue to serve to help get through some unfinished business and to help see the schools through the COVID49 crisis . Selectperson Bingham moved to appoint John O' Reilly to the Nauset Regional School Committee for a term to expire in May 2021 , Selectperson deRuyter second . The Board voted Selectperson Bingham — Yes, Selectperson Whitney — Yes , Selectperson Chatelain — Yes, Selectperson deRuyter — Yes, Chair Chaffee — Yes . Nauset Regional School Committee voted ; Judy Schumacher — Yes, Josh Stewart — Yes, Ian Mack — Yes, Robert Jacobus — Yes, Tom Fitzgibbons — Yes, Chair Easley — Yes . Status Update on Nauset Regional High School Proiect , Discussion of Implications on Timeline to Seek Voter Approval , and Potential Select Board Vote on Recommended Proiect Schedule Peter Lombardi gave an overview of the project timeline . The timeline for a vote on the project has been extended to November, 2020 . In order for Brewster to have the proposition 2 % question on our November ballot, we would need to know by August . Chris Easley went over the history of the project . No vote has been taken by the Regional School Committee on when is the best time to request the funds from the member Towns . There needs to be a discussion on what is the best time to bring this project to the voters . One good piece of news is that interest rates have come down in recent months . Selectperson deRuyter thanked the Regional School Committee for reaching out to the Town for feedback on when this project should be brought before the voters . He would prefer to move this vote to spring 2021 . Selectperson Bingham agrees with bringing this to the Spring Town Meeting and ballot . She did state that she would like the issue of school choice numbers to be re - evaluated . Selectperson Whitney agrees with the spring 2021 timeline . Selectperson Chatelain asked if pushing the vote to spring 2021 would affect the MSBA funding . Chris Easley stated it would not . Chair Chaffee is also in agreement with bringing this project to Town Meeting and the ballot in spring of 2021 . Selectperson deRuyter moved to support the Nauset Regional High School building project and recommend that the vote for the project proceed in May of 2021 , Selectperson Whitney Second . Selectperson deRuyter — Yes, Selectperson Bingham — Yes, Selectperson Whitney — Yes, Selectperson Chatelain — Yes, Chair Chaffee — Yes . Chris Easley addressed the issue of School Choice, which he stated is not a part of the building project, but something that the School Committee will start to address . Status Update on FY21 Nauset Regional School Budget Peter Lombardi gave a brief update on the changes to the Town ' s operating budget and wanted to give the schools the opportunity to do the same . Tom Conrad stated that the schools are also in negotiations with the unions and his hope is that once the negotiations are complete, they will have information on possible savings . They are also in the process of working on three plans for the learning programs for the next school year and hope to see some savings out of that as well . Chris Easley stated that they are looking at budgets and spending due to the Coronavirus pandemic and do not have any straight numbers on costs for the FY21 budget . Selectperson deRuyter asked how the one twelfth budget works on the Regional School level . Are they also required to take a vote ? Giovanna Venditti stated that the School has submitted the one twelfth budget and documents . The final step will be a letter of support from each of the member Towns Select Board ' s . Information will go to each Town on what their individual assessments will be . There has been no information on what state aid will look like for FY21 . Peter Lombardi asked if we should expect revised elementary and regional school budget numbers before Town meeting . Tom Conrad stated that it is too early to tell . They still need to get data on transportation costs and also need to plan for the possibility of parents who will not want to send their children back to school . This would require a remote learning plan . Robert Jacobs moved to adjourn the Regional School Committee at 7 : 39pm , Judy Schumacher second . Other fee waivers are usually taken based on administrative recommendation . The Board would like to have more information on fee waivers . Selectperson deRuyter stated that he supports the Town Planners recommendation for a fee waiver . Chair Chaffee made mention of the correct the spelling of Selectperson Chaterlains spelling for the minutes of June 24, 2020 . Selectperson Bingham moved to approve the consent agenda as recommended by Administration , Selectperson Whitney second .
