Meeting Minutes
August 6, 2020 12:00 PM

Members Present: Mike Weiss (Chair), Charles Jones, Rick Fereday,
Staff: Richard M. Stein, Airport Manager

Mike Weiss the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m.
Public comment: Member Fereday and Ms. Janiak brought up the closure of the Diagonal
Taxiway. Both want to retain the taxiway. for reasons previously stated.
Chairman Weiss suggested opening the Diagonal Taxiway at night. Staff is unable due to
the use of the taxiway as a haul route.
Approval of Minutes from June 4, 2020: The June 4, 2020 regular meeting minutes were
presented for review and approval. MemberJones moved to accept the minutes; Member
Fereday seconded the motion. All voted aye and the motion passed.
AIP 27 — Taxiway Construction: Staff provided a rundown of the Phase 1 of the Taxiway
Project. The asphalt work at the north end of Taxiway A was completed a day early and
reopened as soon as possible. Taxiway Al also opened early permitting easy access to
Runway 16.
Starting at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday. August 4th, the southern portion of Taxiway A (from
south of Twy A2), and the Diagonal Taxiway, will be closed for Phase 3 construction. Maps
are attached.
Runway back taxiing during Phase 3 is unavoidable.
With regulartraffic landing to the north, and taking off to the south, Staff expects that back
taxiing should be minimized.
Draft maps of taxiway routes during Phase 3 construction were presented.
Al 28—Airport Master Plan
The AMP project continues. The consultant has set up a website to provide project
information. The URL for the website is www.mVImasterplan.com.
The project team is seeking public input which will become part of the Master Plan. The
link is located at the www.mvlmasterplan.com website.
Drafts of the first 3 chapters have been provided to the Committee for review. The
chapters describe:
The background of McCall Airport and Airport Master Plans
A Socioeconomic Overview
An Inventory of Existing Conditions
Mr. Fereday had question about public meetings, and getting a presentation from the
consultants.
Staff explained that the first public meeting had to changed due to COVID-19 concerns.
Instead of a public meeting—the Staff set up a website where project information will be
available. The consultant provided an 11 minute video introduction, which is now on the
website.
The consultants are under contract to deliver at least 2 in-person presentations. These
will be held when Coronavirus restrictions permit.
Airport Marking Project
Staff described the first portion of the airport marking project—which is complete. All of
the taxiways except for the north ramp (painted 3 years ago) and the Taxiway Project
pavement (will be removed and repainted) are completed.
Staff is getting prices for the 2nd portion of the project—the runway numbers and
centerline. Project will go forward later this year assuming funding can be secured.
