PORATED CITY OF LYN17VOOD CREATING SPECIAL POLICE OF- FICERS AND THEIR REGULA- TIONS AND PROVIDING A PEN- ALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES OR- DAIN AS FOLLOWS SECTION 1. That there is hereby created in the City of Lyuivrood, California, Special Police Officers. SECTION II The duties of Special Police O1- ficels shall be as follows To act as emergency police, as night watchmen; private pour' Patrols; as police investigators, as shall be. designated by the appoint- ing authority Every such special Police officer shall be limited in his authurtty and dut,., iu i corporate limits of the city of Lvu- wood; and to Snch specific duties or activities as shall be designat- ed by the chief of police of such city in making such appointment. SECTION III No Special Police Offieer shah engage in anv special pollee acts ivity until and unless he shall have been awarded a badge, and shall wear and display the at all times during his activity as such officer SECTION IV All applications by persons for appointment for the office of Special Pclice shall be node in writing to the chief of police in said cit, and shall confarni in all recPects to such legulatlous as the chief 01 police of said city may P from tinm to time. SFCTION V Upon being satisfied that there is a need therefore and that the appointment is satficiently goali- dell, the Chief Of Police In,i,, al' ➢Dint any person who Is a citi'z,•c of the United States and who is over the age of twenty -one years Special Police Officer nt the ',, Of Lynwood. SECTION XI It is further ordained that Special Police officers are in all respects doing voluntary service as far as the City of Lvnwood Is concerned and are in no -wise employees of the city of Lynwood. SECTION XII It is further ordained that Special Police of the city of Lyn- wood shall only have and exer- cise such authority as is granted to them by the chief of police of said city, and that the activities of such officers shall be limited to the authority of their appoint- ment. SECTION XIII Every person convicted of vio- lation of this ordinance may be sentenced by the Judge of the city court of said city of Lynwood, to pay a fine not exceeding one Hun- dred ($10000) Dollars, or impri- sonment in the tail of the said city of Lvnwood, for a period not to exceed fifty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION XIY The City Clerk is berrbv direct- ed to Publish this ordinance one issue in the Lynwood Press, after the Ordinaries is finally passed and adopted.
