HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0823U • • ORDINANCE,NO. 823 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE LYNWOOD CITY CODE AND ADOPTING THE 1964 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM 'BUILDING CODE INCLUDING CHAPTERS .13, 23, 49, AND 51 OF THE APPENDIX THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY OF LYNWOOD Section 1. Section 8.1 of the Lynwood City Code is amended to read as follows: "Section 8.1. Uniform Build- ing Code - Adopted; where fil ed; appeal. "(a) For the purpose of pre- scribing regulations to provide minimum standards of safe- guard life or limb, health, pro- perty and public welfare by re- gulating and controlling the de- sign, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the city and certain equipment specifically regulated herein, there is hereby adopted by the City Council of the city that cer- tain code known as the Uniform Building Code recommended by the Pacific Coast Building Of ficials' Conference, being part icularly the 1964 Editio ex- cept Sections 204, 60 and 70 of the Code and Chapter 48 of the Appendix to the Code. Not less than three copies of the Code have been and now are filed in the Office of the Clerk of -the City, and the same, with the exception of Sections 204, 60 and 70 of the Code and Chapter 48 of the Appendix, is hereby adopted and incorporat ed as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the rate on which this section shall take effect, the provisions of the Uniform Building Code shall be controlling within the City There is also hereby adopted the following Chapters in the Appendix of the said 1964 Edition of the Uniform Building Code: 13, 23, 49 and 51; Chapters 48 and 70 of the said Appendix are hereby ex- pressly excluded from adoption. "(b) Appeal. Within 30 days after the Chief Building In- spector shall reject an applicat- ion for a building permit or otherwise make a ruling adverse to the applicant or permittee, the applicant or permittee may file a written appeal with the City Clerk stating in detail the reasons why the permit should be granted or the ruling should not be reversed or modified, notwithstanding the Chiet Build- ing 1'nspector to the contrary '(c) Hearng on Appeal. With- in 24 hours of the receipt of the written appeal, provided for by subparagraph (b) of this section, the City Clerk will ad- vise the Chief Building Inspect- or of the appeal and within the same period will fix the date and time for the hearing of the appeal by the City Council and notify the applicant or permittee by registered or certified mail and the Chief Building Inspector in writing, which date must not be more than 30 days from the date the appeal is tiled with the City Clerk." Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspap- er of general circulation print- ed and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
