Certification of Agenda Posting by City Clerk REORGANIZATION UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS DISCUSSION COMMISSION /PUBLIC ORALS: ADJOURNMENT �, �� p jzz_t�'_ 0 0 REGULAR MEETING AUGUST B 1990 A regular meeting of the Lynwood Womens Commission was held in the VIP Room of Bateman Hall on the above date at 5:30 p.m. Chairman Mazziotti in the chair. Commissioners Verna Culp, Dr. Betty Jackson, Ethel Pacheco, and Della Mazziotti answered the roll call. Commissioner Everlena McCown arrived at 5:47 p.m. Also in attendance were City Clerk Hooper, Minutes Clerk Warren, Commission Advisors Janice Smith, Lorna Hawkins, and Ann Fields. It was noted the agenda had been duly posted in accordance with The Brown Act. Chairman Mazziotti announced election of officers for 1990 -91 was in order. Nominations were opened for Chairperson. Dr. Betty Jackson nominated Verna Culp for Chairperson. Hearing no further nominations, Verna Culp was elected as Chairperson by unanimous vote. Nominations were opened for Vice - Chairman. - —_ Dr. Betty Jackson nominated Ethel Pacheco. Ethel Pacheco nominated Dr. Betty Jackson. I Dr. Jackson declined the nomination. Hearing no further nominations, , Ethel Pacheco was elected Vice - Chairman by unanimous vote. Verna Culp questioned if there was a need for a second Vice - Chairman. It was unanimously agreed there was no need for a second Vice - Chairman. It was moved by Verna Culp, seconded by Ethel Pacheco and approved to reappoint Dr. Jackson as Chairman of Ways and Means Committee. Nominations were opened for Treasurer. Dr. Jackson nominated Everlena McCown. Hearing no further nominations, i Everlena McCown was elected Treasurer by unanimous vote. Nominations were opened for Correspondence Secretary. Dr. Jackson nominated Della Mazziotti. r Hearing no further nominations, Della Mazziotti was elected Correspondence Secretary by unanimous vote. UNFINISHED /OLD BUSINESS: Discussion followed on possible budget for Womens Commission and Procedure for handling donations made. Discussion was held on the Membership Tea that proved to be a successful affair. I E Pi - 2 - Verna Culp announced donations received from Ann Fields and Helen and Jenny's. Also spoke on the flowers and door prizes that were donated. Suggested thank you cards be sent. COMMISSION /PUBLIC ORALS: Chairman Mazziotti discussed Assembly Bill allowing family members to take unpaid leave of absence for up to four months to care for ill children, etc., without being fired from job. Suggested letters of support of the bill, be sent to Senator Ralph C. Dills. Dr. Jackson spoke on the National Womens Convention held on July 12, 1990, and the interesting issues discussed. Lorna Hawkins spoke of support group being formed to help families who have lost loved ones to violence. Mr. Kim, Marketplace, discussed new business at imperial and State Street, and the many different types of shops that would be located there. Stated the second floor would have area suitable .for programs and other entertainment. Discussion was held regarding installation ceremonies for newly I elected Women Commission Officers. After discussion, _ It was decided Women.s Commission would meet at Vasilios Restaurant September 12, 1990, at 6:00 p.m. for installation ceremonies. There was no further business and it was moved by Dr. Jackson, seconded by Lorna Hawkins and carried, to adjourn. Respectfully submitted, Ma Min rg et Warren es Clerk 0 0 REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 12 1990 A regular meeting of the Lynwood Womens Commission was held in the Dining Room of Vasilio's Restaurant on the above date at 6:00 p.m. Commissioners in attendance were Verna Culp, Ethel Pacheco, Dr. Betty Jackson, Della Mazziotti, and Everlena McCown. Also in attendance were City Clerk Hooper, Minutes Clerk Warren, Commission Advisors Elizabeth Dixon, Janice Smith, Lorna Hawkins, and Ann Fields. City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to newly elected officers of the commission. Chairman Culp made remarks to the commissioners.
