A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD_ TO
APPROVE THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR DIAL -A -RIDE
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AND DIRECT STAFF TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS
FROM QUALIFIED TRANSPORTATION COMPANIES
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has provided an on- demand Dial -a -Ride
Service for senior citizens and handicapped residents for over thirty- years, and
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2010 the City Council approved an agreement with
All Trans Enterprises, DBA Futura Taxi for the provision of on- demand transportation
services for seniors and physically challenged citizens; and
WHEREAS, the initial term of this agreement was for a two -year period from
April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2012; and
WHEREAS, on January 17, 2012 the City Council approved to allow Futura Taxi
to operate on a month -to -month basis until a Request for Proposals process is
completed, and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to have qualified firms present
proposals for the opportunity to provide transportation services for the Dial -a -Ride
program, which provide subsidized rides to seniors and physically challenged citizens
living within the City limits, and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood purchasing guidelines require that a formal
Request for Proposals is issued for purchases in excess of $15,000
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND,
ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS;
Section 1. The City staff is authorized to solicit proposals for contracted
transportation services for the City's Dial -a -Ride program from qualified firms through a
Request for Proposals (RFP) in a form provided to the City Council concurrently with
this resolution, with changes to such form as approved by the City Attorney
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption
