HILLS BOROUGH TOWN BOARD
November 17,1997
7:30 P.M., Town Office Complex
The Hillsborough Town Board met in Closed Session on November 17, 1997 in the
Town Office Complex for the purpose of discussing Real Property Acquisition and Possible
Litigation. Present for the Board Meeting were Mayor Horace Johnson, Commissioners Kenneth
Chavious, Evelyn Lloyd, Catherine Martin, Richard Simpson, and Remus Smith. Staff present
were Town Manager Eric Peterson, Finance Director Sherry Carter, Town Engineer Tom Hartye,
Town Clerk Donna Armbrister. Others present were Attorney Nick Herman and new
Commissioner Frances Dancy.
Attorney Nick Herman reported on the status of property condemnation proceedings for
property for the Reservoir including mandatory mediation. He stated that cases which are not
settled through mediation will have trials which will be held sometime in the summer and fall of
1998.
Herman also reported on the status of the Faucette Mill Road project. He informed the
Board that Steve Yuhasz with ENT Land Surveyors has been obtained to determine which
property the Town will be required to purchase.
Herman assured the Board that they would be kept well informed of all proceedings.
Mayor Johnson alerted the Board that Mr. Lunsford, the owner of the car wash, may file a
law suit against the Town for having their water disconnected due to the mandatory water
restrictions.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Simpson, the Board
moved to return to Open Session by a vote of 5-0. The motion was declared passed.
