SPECIAL MEETING
HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD
NOVEMBER 25, 1997
9:00 AM, Police Department Training Room
The HiUsborough Town Board held a Special Meeting on November 25, 1997 at 9:00
A.M. in the Police Department Training Room. Present for the Board Meeting were Mayor
Horace Johnson, Evelyn Lloyd, Catherine Martin, and Commissioners Kenneth Chavious. Staff
present were Town Manager Eric Peterson, Finance Director Sherry Carter, Town Clerk Donna
Annbrister and Street Superintendent Clem Johnson.
Mayor Horace Johnson called the meeting to order at 9:37 A.M.
I. PUBLIC CHARGE
Mayor Johnson read the Public Charge.
II. ADDING ITEMS TO THE PRINTED AGENDA
Town Manager Eric Peterson added to the printed agenda as Item IV.AA. a Budget
Amendment for the funding of the street paving.
III. AUDIENCE COMMENTS

There were no audience comments.
IV. ITEMS FOR DECISION -- REGULAR AGENDA
A. Consideration of Paving Bids
Manager Eric Peterson presented to the Board bid for street improvements received from
Thompson-Arthur Paving Company and Riley Paving, Inc. for their consideration.
Manager Peterson recommended that the Board accept the bid from Riley Paving, Inc.
even though it was not the low bid due to the fact that they can begin the work within 30 days
and complete it within 10 succeeding days if weather permits. Peterson also noted that Riley has
done the paving for the Town for the past two years.

AA. Consideration of Budget Amendment
Manager Peterson submitted a budget amendment for $6,135 for the street paving for the
Board's consideration.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Martin, seconded by Commissioner Lloyd, the Board
moved to approve the bid from Riley Paving, Inc. in the amount of $76, 135 and approve the
budget amendment in the amount of$6,135 by a vote of3-0. The motion was declared passed.
A copy of the bid tabulation and the budget amendment are hereby made a part of these minutes
as Attachment IV.A.
V. ADJOURN
Upon a motion by Commissioner Chavious, seconded by Commissioner Lloyd, the Board
moved to adjourn at] 0:00 A.M. by a vote of3-0. The motion was declared passed.
