HomeMy Public PortalAboutr 13-149�Regvlu inxr of #4e �Bnroxtg4 of Tur#eret, ( N�� �41 No. 13-149 Date of AdomioAgLlst . 2013 AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN EXCESS REAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET WHEREAS, the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:12A -1, et. seq. (the "Act "), as amended and supplemented, provides for a process for municipalities to participate in the redevelopment and improvement of areas in need of redevelopment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Act the Mayor and Council (the "Borough ") has previously included Lots 1.01 &1.02 in Block 7505 ( the "Property ") on the Borough's Official Tax Map as part of the an area in need of redevelopment to be redeveloped and improved through the adoption of The Lower Roosevelt Avenue Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, the Borough previously designated Kaplan at Carteret, LLC, to redevelop the property as part of Kaplan's Gateway at Carteret Redevelopment Project; and WHEREAS, it was previously determined that the Property was not needed for inclusion in the Kaplan Gateway Project and was therefore removed from the same; and WHEREAS, the Borough has determined that a need exists to further the redevelopment and improvement of the redevelopment area through the improvement, redevelopment and maintenance of any such previously acqu but excess redevelopment properties, specifically including the Property, in the Lower Roosevelt Avenue Redevelopment Area, and other such properties in this and other designated redevelopment areas. WHEREAS, in furtherance of said redevelopment and improvement efforts, the Borough has determined it is the public interest to sell said unneeded properties. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret, as follows: 1. The Borough hereby authorizes and approves the sale of Lots 1.01 & 1.02 in Block 7505 on the Borough's Official Tax Map, commonly known as 68 Essex Street, Carteret, New Jersey 07008, to The Islamic Organization of Carteret to be used soley as a religious ministry and/or civic, non -profit community center for the sum of $60,000. 2. The Borough Attorney and the Appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized and directed to perform or carry out or cause to be performed or carried out, any and all acts, including, but not limited to, the execution of any and all necessary documents, needed to effectuate the above sale and transfer of the aforementioned Property, and to provided for its intended use within the Lower Roosevelt Avenue Redevelopment Area. NO, 13-149 3. The Borough Attorney an d the Appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized and directed to perform or carry out or cause to be performed or carried out, any and all acts, including, but not limited to, the execution of any and all necessary documents, needed to effectuate the sale of any other excess properties for redevelopment purposes as determined in consultation with the Borough's Professional Redevelopment Consultants.
