GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL
SPECIAL SESSION
TUESDAY, JULY 24, 2001 5:00 P.M.

The Greencastle Common Council met in Special Session Tuesday, July 24, 2001, 5:00 p.m. at
City Hall. Mayor Michael called the meeting to Order at 5:05 p.m. On the Roll Call, the
following were found to be present: Councilor Roach, Councilor Hammer, Councilor Liechty and
Councilor Rokicki. Councilor Crampton was absent.
Ordinance 2001 -5, An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 1999 -4, Being An Ordinance
Amending Ordinance Nos. 1966 -7, 1977 -13, 1977 -15, 1980 -10, 1980 -14 and 19994 -12, Being
An Ordinance Establishing Rates and Charges by the City of Greencastle, Indiana, for Use and
Service of its Sewer System, Providing Charges for Connection and Providing for Collections
Thereof, second reading. Motion to approve made by Councilor Roach, seconded by Councilor
Rokicki.
® Robert Hardwick presented Council with a list of ten cities /towns that are comparable in size to
Greencastle and their sewer rates stating that the City of Greencastle has the highest rate of all of
these including Danville, which has a sewage rate of $1.85 per thousand gallons. Mr. Hardwick
urged the Council to vote no to the rate increase and go back to the table. After some discussion,
the vote was unanimous to accept Ordinance 2001 -5.
Resolution 2001 -25, A Resolution Transferring Public Access Channel Operations was tabled on
a motion by Councilor Roach, seconded by Councilor Liechty. Vote was unanimous.
After some discussion regarding the Police Department relocation, Councilor Hammer made a
motion to move forward with all the "stuff' needed to purchase the Furniture Plus property on
North Jackson Street, seconded by Councilor Rokicki. Vote was unanimous.
Motion to adjourn made by Councilor Rokicki, seconded by Councilor Liechty. Vote was
unanimous.
