RESOLUTION 1992 - 3
RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Riverdale.
Resolution calling for referendum on establishing a joint water
utility be held at a special city election on June 23, 1992 and
establishing the ballot proposition.
WHEREAS, a petition calling for a referendum on a proposal to
establish a joint water utility in Davenport, Bettendorf, Riverdale
and Panorama Park; and
WHEREAS, the petition originally requested that an election on the
proposal be held at the regular city election on November 5, 1991;
and
WHEREAS, Chapter 388A Iowa Code (H.F. 689) does not specify any
particular date on which such election shall be held; and
WHEREAS, it is the decision of the Council when to hold the
election provided it is held within a reasonable period of time;
and
WHEREAS, the election was delayed in order to provide time for a
feasibility study; and
"' WHEREAS, the Mayor's Water Committee has now recommended the
election be held at a special election on June 23, 1992 which under
the circumstances would be within a reasonable time;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
RIVERDALE, IOWA that the referendum on the issue shall be set for
June 23, 1992;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the form of the question shall be as
follows:
"Shall the Town of Riverdale, together with the Cities of
Davenport, Bettendorf and the Town of Panorama Park, County of
Scott, establish, acquire, and undertake the operation of a Joint
Water Utility, and establish a Joint Water Utility Board to
administer said water utility?"
