SUMMARY STATEMENT:
During the 2019 Retreat, Council outlined ideas and opportunities with Communications staff to further engage the public and inform them in advance of important topics and meetings.
Some of these ideas included: streaming the public meetings; weekly minutes of what’s going on at the City; doing a “Council Forecast”; a bulletin board in the newspaper or other public
forum; use more radio and/or TV. In the FY19 Budget there were no funds allocated for the Council Public Relations line item. To accomplish the desired direction of Council, staff requests
that $4000 be transferred from the Council Contingency Budget 10-41-750-999.0 to Public Relations 10-41-150-275.0 to enable Communications staff to undertake these initiatives for the
remainder of FY19. A tentative schedule plan and use of funds is attached.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the transfer of funds for Council Public Relations the recording of City Council meetings for the public and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
