HomeMy Public PortalAbout21-9907 Establishing the Annual City Special Events ListSponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 21-9907 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND ESTABLISHING THE ANNUAL CITY SPECIAL EVENTS LIST, CALENDAR AND BUDGET FOR THE 2022 FISCAL YEAR, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR SCRIVENOR'S ERRORS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka ("City") desires to hold special events each year that are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors and foster cooperative leadership within the business community and the City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 21-9859, the City Commission of the City ("City Commission") established a Special Events Policy and Procedures; and WHEREAS, the City Commission further desires to set the annual Special Event list and calendar for the 2022 fiscal budget year; and WHEREAS, the City Commission now seeks to establish a Special Events List, Calendar and Budget for the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year and budget, attached hereto as Composite Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it is in the best interest of the City and its residents to adopt the 2022 Special Events List, Calendar and Budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Adoption of Representations. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2. Establishment of a Special Events List, Calendar and Budget for the 2022 Fiscal Year. The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby approves the Annual City Special Events List, Calendar and Budget for the 2022 Fiscal Year, as set forth in Composite Exhibit "A". Section 3. Scrivener's Errors. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be authorized by the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, without need of Resolution No. 21-9907 public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk. Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption by the City of Opa-Locka and is subject to the approval of the Governor or Governor's Designee. List includes Special Event name and cost of each event. Events can be added to Special Events calendar at the Commission's discretion. Additionally, the recently adopted Special Events policy provides for the establishment of equal budget allocations for each member of the Commission to conduct Special Events of specific interest to that member. Financial Impact - The cost of the schedule of the Special Events established by the City Commission and the amount to be allocated to each member of the Commission for individual Special Events will be incorporated into the proposed FY 22 City Budget. Staff recommends the City Commission establish the list of Special Events, and the cost of each, to be conducted by_the City in FY 22 and also establish the budget to be allocated to each member of the Commission to conduct Special Events of specific interest to that Commission member. 1.
