SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Historical Preservation Commission (HPC), as authorized by McCall City Code Title 2 Chapter 3, is
responsible for promoting “the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the public of the City
of McCall, Idaho, through the identification, evaluation, designation and protection of those buildings, sites,
areas, structures and objects which reflect significant elements of the City's, the State's and the nation's
historic architectural, archaeological and cultural heritage.”
The HPC consists of five (5) members, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council.
Members serve (3) three-year terms which can be renewed (MCC 2-4-030).
Walt Sledzieski has served on the Historic Preservation Commission since 2016. His three-year term has
expired, and he wishes to be reappointed. The position vacancy was advertised and no other letters of
interest in the position was received.
Attached are Mr. Sledzieski’s 2016 and updated letters of interest. Since then, he has served as chair of the
HPC and led the efforts to nominate the Johnson Flying Service Hangar to the National Register of Historic
Places.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Appoint Walt Sledzieski to a (3) year term on the McCall Historic Preservation Commission with term
ending May 2022.
