' I EIR : Minutes of Public Hearing [3; Thursday, June 25, 2020 The Brewster Old King' s Highway Regional Historic District Committee, acting under the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 470, Acts of 1973 as amended, came to order remotely at 7 : 00 pm . Committee members present were Carol Appleton, Tom Turcketta, Jim Trabulsie ( Chairman ) , George Carey, Steven Bergquist, and Sara Provos (Administrative Assistant) . Patricia Busch was not present . SCHEDULED APPLICATIONS j H - 6-20-72 Town of Brewster, 1671 Main Street ( Fire Station ), Map 56 Lot 6 Roof Mounted Solar • Applicant signed a Waiver to continue to August 6, 2020 . W6-20-77 Armin Ernst and Dayna Anderson, 49 Byfield Cartway, Map 49 Lot 84 Roof Mounted Solar ■ Neal Holmgren from Solar Rising represented the owners . ■ Owner is seeking approval to install 24 roof mounted solar panels on the West dormer . Steven Bergquist asked for clarification on the frames of the panels . Mr . Holmgren confirmed that the frames will be anodized black aluminum . ■ George Carey noted that there is a slope on the roof pitch and that it will be visible from Robbins Hill Road . Mr, Holmgren stated that the roof is black and that the panels will blend in . Rena and Bruce Caldwell abutters of this property submitted a letter and stated that they are in favor of this application . ■ Steven Bergquist moved to approve as presented . Carol Appleton seconded . • Tom Turcketta, Carol Appleton, Steven Bergquist and Jim Trabulsie voted in favor as proposed . George Carey did not vote in favor. Hw&20-81 John Pels, 140 Old Valley Road, Map 101 Lot 14 Deck ■ Contractor John Brintnal ) discussed the deck addition on behalf of the homeowners . ■ The deck will measure 36' x 6' on the front of the home . ■ Jim Trabulsie mentioned that a smaller deck was approved via an Exemption, however the homeowners wanted to change this to a larger deck and Mr. Trabulsie determined that a COA would be required . • The committee did not feel that this size of a deck on the front of the home is appropriate for the district . 1 Brewster Historic District Committee / Minutes of June 25, 2020 Meeting ■ Tom Turcketta and other committee members felt that adding a roof over the deck may give it an appearance that is appropriate for this type of home . ■ John Brintnall stated the he could provide a landscape plan that may help soften the look of the deck and its large size . ■ Tom Turcketta moved to continue to July 9, 2020 meeting . Steven Bergquist seconded . ■ All voted in favor . H =6-20-82 Jonathan Georges, 326 Tubman Road, Map 54 Lot 25 Roof Mounted Solar ■ Abe Boyle of My Generation Energy represented the owners . ■ Mr . Boyle noted that 8 Solar Panels will be on the front of the home and 10 on the rear of the home . ■ Mr. Trabulsie stated that before this should be considered for approval , he would like to consider a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU ) that no trees will be cut within 30 feet of the road . ■ Committee members stated they are not in favor of solar panels on the front of the home in the ON District . ■ Mr . Boyle confirmed that the panels and framing would be black . ■ Tom Turcketta moved to accept 10 panels on the back of the home, allowing 8 panels on the front of the home pending a signed MOU . Steven Bergquist seconded . ■ All voted in favor . 2
