Present : Roger Smith , Ralph Marotti , Joan Swaluk, Joan Bernstein , Tonia St . Germaine , Kathy
Krikorian , JoAnn Phillips
Absent: Maureen Callahan , Traci Noone
Guest Ed Shepherd , long time part time resident attended this evening ' s meeting . A retired
librarian , he has numerous cultural interests including theater, writing , music and history.
On a motion by Joan Swaluk , seconded by Joan Bernstein Minutes of the February 3 meeting
were approved unanimously .
On a motion by Tonla St. Germaine , seconded by JoAnn Phillips , the Treasurer's Report was
accepted unanimously. There is a total of $5780. 24 in the account ,
Roger Smith reported that he met with Town Administrator Peter Lombardi who indicated the
possibility of the BCC receiving $ 1000 from the town , Also , through the Town of Brewster
website , the BCC can give notifications of the events it sponsors .
JoAnn Phillips reported that she contacted Donald Enos , who for the past several years has
offered an hour long " Sampler" program highlighting chamber music pieces performed by noted
musicians . Mr. Enos will not be offering the program this May. The BCC has sponsored this
event in conjunction with the Brewster Ladies Library. On a motion by Ralph Marotti , seconded
by Joan Bernstein , the BCC will not pursue a replacement for the chamber group this year. The
motion was carried unanimously.
Tonia St. Germaine spoke of the need to plan a timeline for the annual Literary Evening ,
traditionally occurring the third Thursday of October. Because the honored author each year is
a major promotional factor, the Council was asked to think of honoree candidates soon , so that
a person is in place before summer break .
Joan Swaluk reported that the Art Show is full to capacity, and Richard Perry will be the honored
artist this year.
Discussion ensued about a potential reception for BCC Grantees February, 2021 in order to
honor the artists , create energy that will enhance awareness of the BCC , and to build
community . Press and the public would be invited to the event .
At our next meeting we should consider nominating replacements for those members whose
terms expire this year. We should also clarify our priorities and our vision as a Cultural Council ,
