HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-15-1998 Joint Session . . -. 387 MINUTES HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD April 15, 1998 7:30 PM, Police Department Training Room The Hillsborough Town Board held a Joint Meeting with the Orange County School System on Apri] ]4, 1998 at 7:30 PM in the Police Department Training Room. Town Board Members present for the Board Meeting were Mayor Horace H. Johnson, Sf., Commissioners Richard Simpson, Catherine Martin, and Frances Dancy. Absent from the Board Meeting was Commissioner Kenneth Chavious and Evelyn Lloyd. Staff Present were Town Manager Eric Peterson and Town Clerk Donna Armbrister. Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:38 PM. Mayor Johnson stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the siting of a new school. The Orange County School Board Chair stated that the School Board wishes to jointly develop a school site with the Town of Hillsborough. He expressed the School Board's desire for joint collaboration between the Town of Hillsborough, the Orange County School Board, and the Orange County Board of County commissioners. The Orange County School Board's Consultant explained that the most critical information to consider in siting this new school is the availability of water and sewer services. The School Board inquired of the Town's willingness to work with them to pay for these services. The Consultant stated that, at this time, they are primarily considering a 4" forced sewer main and the standard water availability to meet the code for fire suppression. Mayor Johnson reported to the group some of the history behind the siting of the previous school. Mayor Johnson stated that the Town would be willing to consider installation of a 6" line from the Water Tank to the Mobile Home Park. He informed the School Board that from the Mobile Home Park to the School, the financing of the line would need to be covered by the School Board. Town Manager Eric Peterson expressed the Town's willingness to work with the School Board and their contractor to bring a recommendation to the Town Board. Upon a motion by Commissioner Martin, seconded by Commissioner Dancy, the Board moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 PM by a vote of3-0. The motion was declared passed. ~~ Donna F.
