REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 6, 1990
The Redevelopment Agency of the City of Lynwood met _
in a regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road on the
above date at 7:41 p.m.
Chairman Henning in the chair.
Members Heine, Rea, Richards, Wells, Henning, answered the roll
call.
Also present were Executive Director Gomez, General Counsel
Barbosa, Secretary Hooper and Treasurer Wright.
Secretary announced the agenda had been duly posted in accordance
with The Brown Act.
Chairman Henning stated item - Request from Ig,lesia De Cristo
desiring a two -year lease for the property located at
3840 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., for use as a Christian Church,
representative would be allowed to speak.
Marcial Rivas, representative of Church, spoke of programs his
Church offers to combat ctime, drug addiction, senior citizen
services, anti - graffiti, and program designed to feed the
needy. Discussed the many programs his Church would offer to the
citizens of Lynwood if they were allowed to lease the property.
Mr. Richards spoke of programs being offered by the Church as
being excellent programs but since they are done on a daily basis,
parking problems would arise for those attending the Church,
residents, and the Library. Would be willing to have staff look
into appropriate location for the Church.
' Mr. Heine also spoke of parking problems that would be created
by leasing the building.
Mrs. Wells spoke of concerns about the church being in the re-
development area. Would like to see staff look into other suitable
locations.
Mr. Rea spoke on the lease the Church is requesting and the many
good things they are planning to do. Stated he was supportive
of the Church going into the location.
Chairman Henning spoke of the many vacant Churche ° s in the city
that might be suitable for the membership.
After discussion,
It was moved by Mrs. Wells, seconded by Mr. Heine to deny request
from Iglesia De Cristo for two -year lease of property at
3840 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., for use as a Christian Church.
Mr. Richards requested the Church look into the possibility of -
holding a revival in the city.

other Churches in the city but there did not appear to be any
available.
