A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
THE VILLAGE MANAGER TO PREPARE A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS/QUALIFICATIONS TO RETAIN A FIRM TO
PREPARE A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE BURYING OF
OVERHEAD UTILITY LINES WITHIN THE VILLAGE; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Village of Key Biscayne (the "Village") residents have raised concerns
regarding the aesthetics of overhead utility lines, interruption of service and the potential public
safety risk resulting from a windstorm event within the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council has discussed the possibility of burying the overhead utility
lines within the Village to try to alleviate such concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council desires to authorize the Village Manager to prepare a
Request for Proposals/Qualifications to retain a firm to examine the physical and cost feasibility of
pros and cons of burying overhead utility lines within the Village (the "Solicitation"); and
WHEREAS, the Village Council finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and welfare
of the residents of the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1, Recitals Adopted. Each of the above stated recitals are hereby adopted,
confirmed and incorporated herein.
Section 2. Authorization. The Village Council hereby authorizes the Village Manager
to prepare the Solicitation and to present such Solicitation for Village Council approval within 60
days after the effective date of this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon
adoption.
