MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
OCTOBER 20, 1993
The meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of Lynwood was
held October 20, 1993 at City Hall's Conference Room. (The
agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act.)
Commissioner Ethel Pacheco called the meeting to order at 5:30
p.m. Members in attendance were: Mary Sue Lewis, Della
Mazziotti, and Ethel Pacheco. Late was Commissioner Verna Culp.
Staff member present was Carol De Jesus.
Friend of the Lynwood Women's Commission present was Ernestine
Fountain.
Commissioner Mazziotti corrected minutes of August 11, 1993 to
read that she, and not Ms. Lewis, volunteered to be the sergeant
at arms. Ms. Mazziotti made a motion to approve minutes of
August 11, 1993 with corrections. Motion was seconded by Ms.
Lewis.
I. OLD BUSINESS
A. ALL DAY CHILD CARE WORKSHOP
The commissioners agreed to postpone the date of the
Childcare Workshop from the originally set date of
November 5, 1993 to February 11, 1993. Commissioner
Mazziotti made a motion to approve the change of
date, seconded by Ms. Lewis. A suggestion was made to
decorate the room with heart designs as the event will
occur prior to Valentine's Day.
DISCUSSED PLANS ON THE CHILDCARE WORKSHOP ARE AS FF:
1. Schedule of Workshop
start time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

2. Setting up of Child Care Center

4. Health Care
4. Other Matters Relative To The Childcare Workshop:
- Commissioner Mazziotti presented her notes on
childcare workshop she jotted down on previous
meetings (read aloud by Ms. de Jesus).
- Commissioner Culp suggested that all the
Friends of the Commission should be invited to
the November 10th meeting to get them fully
involved in the workshop.
- Ms. De Jesus presented the commissioners with a
draft letter of invitation to the workshop.
III. COMMISSIONER'S /PUBLIC ORALS
* Commissioner Mazziotti expressed her views on the
following:
MAY EVENT OF 1992 - Ms. Mazziotti was disappointed that
the commission's plans for last year's May event in
celebration of Women's Month was not carried out as
discussed. An entirely different program took its
place.
COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN'S CONVENTION IN
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO - Ms. Mazziotti expressed her
desire to attend the conference had she known the City
was willing to cover the trip expense.

October 23, 1993 - United Parents of Lynwood thank -you
luncheon to Government Officials
December 3, 1993 - Christmas Parade
December 9, 1993 - Commission Dinner
April 16, 1993 - Drive By Agony event
There being no further business, meeting ended at 6:40 p.m. with
motion to adjourn to a regular meeting on November 10, 1993.
