A. Discussion of Community Affairs Forum
Mr. Don Fraser introduced Rosemary Valdovinos, an intern for the
Administrative Services Department as the liaison person for the
City in charge of the Community Affairs Forum project.
Ms. Valdovinos gave each commissioner a list of items for
discussion on the said project (see attached).
1. Dinner Suggestions
The commissioners reviewed the price list on dinners and
suggested that a buffet menu ranging from $6.00 - $7.00 would
be ideal. Ms. Valdovinos will check with the Biscuit
Catering Co. and will get back to the commissioners next
meeting. She will further find out the seating arrangements
since people will be watching from across their tables.
•
2. Decorations:
The commissioners opted for red, white and blue colors as the
motiff for the forum and Commissioner Newton volunteered to
canvass for the prices of tablecloths, napkins, centerpieces
and balloons.
3. Ticket Printing
Commissioner Litsinger suggested to put numbers on tickets
so that there is a system of control on the distribution and
selling of the tickets.
The charge per ticket is $9.00. The play will last no more
than an hour. Mr. Fraser recommended that the doors open at
6 PM, dinner starts at 6:30 PM and play starts from 7:30 PM -
8:30 PM. The number of tickets will not exceed 400.
The commissioners asked Ms. Valdovinos to check for
discount prices for children. They further agreed to have
the Mayor say a few words and they advised Mr. Fraser to make
sure that all the councilpersons attend the performance.
4. Publicity
The commissioners concur with Ms. Valdovinos' suggestion of
sending out publicity through fliers, articles to newspapers
and formation of committees to deal with various
organizations.
The Commissioners decided to have fliers go to different
schools and churches. The target date for fliers to go to
schools is September 8th.
