COMMUNITY ACCESS ADVISORY BOARD
Minutes for the Meeting of
October 19, 1987
The regular meeting of the Community Access Advisory Board of the
City of Lynwood, California was held on October 19, 1987 in the
Council Chambers of the City Hall. (The agenda was duly posted
as prescribed by the Brown Act)
Chairperson Mary Wright called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m.
Members in attendance were Mary Wright, Rev. C.C. Coleman, Ann
Fields and Bill Cunningham. Absent was Randy Williams. Staff
present were Don Fraser and Carol de Jesus.
Chairperson Mary Wright requested the minutes of September 21
to reflect the name of Community Access Advisory Board instead of
the Community Affairs Commission (as shown in the section
regarding approval of minutes). Commissioner Wright made the
motion with Commissioner Fields seconding to approve the minutes
of October 19, 1987 with the above noted correction. All in
favor. Motion carried.
SCHEDULED MATTERS
A. "History of Lynwood" Video
Representatives from Hintz & Balvin gave a status report on
the history of Lynwood project. The following are the places
they have gone to do interviews and research:
- Southwest Museum
- Lynwood's Chamber of Commerce - looked at pictures
- Abbott House (commented that graffiti was all over the place)
- Railroad Station Depot
-Old City Hall
- County Library (spoke with Ms. Lena Sparks and found out
there are not a whole lot of materials on Lynwood)
The Hintz and Balvin group will do further research; they felt
they have to start from the beginning and capitalize on
certain things. Ms. Walter requested that any ideas that the
board comes up with be coursed through Don's office.

Commissioner Wright suggested that the firm should look into
the different big industries located in Lynwood such as the
Helen Grace candies, Manchester Tank & Jorgensen Steel.
Commissioner Cunningham complimented the Hintz & Balvin group
for putting together a very fascinating scripting idea for the
first few minutes of the tape.
There being no further business to conduct, the motion was
made and seconded to adjourn to November 17, 1987. All in
favor. Motion carried.
