Per the attached letter there are three vacancies on the Youth Commission. Nominations and Appointments are in order. 0 Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers: 0 Michelle M. Zavala 11110 Louise Avenue Lynwood, CA 90262 5 September 1993 This letter is to request re- appointment to the Lynwood Youth Commission. I feel'this commission has taught me alot about who I am and who I want to become. Therefore, I think that being on the commission would be an asset to us all. When I joined the commission I waa one of the youngest. Since I'm now a teenager, I believe I see that I can now do more than just give my ideas at a meeting. I'm older and therfore I interact with alot more of the youth in my community. I know I can help bring things to pass that need to be done. Thanking you in advance for your consiederation. F RECEIVED I CITY Of LYfVW00U ITY CLERKS OFFICE AN SEP 71993 71819 11 10 1llIL 9 11i AI5 6 A I am writting to request reinstatement to the Youth Commission I have been a member of the Youth Commission since the birth of the Commission. I love being able to serve my community as a Youth Commissioner This year I graduated from Lynwood High School, and today I started attending college at Compton Community College as a full time student When I graduated from high school, I did so as an advanced college freshman, due to the classes taken every summer. Mayor, I am 17 years old , and I have been a good citizen and a good mentor for other young men in my community. I have never been to _jail, nor do I plan to ever go there. I have been an active member of the commission in the first trip to Sacramento, which impressed on me changes for the rest of my life I have worked to make Anti- Graffitte day a success from the first one to the most recent . I have contributed much energy to every Youth Summit. I have volunteered to help the poor at Christmas time as a commissioner and grew from those experiences. I have a lot more to give to the commission, we have a new staff person whom I am looking forward to working with. There are a lot of things we can and should be doing that will happen under this new leadership Regretfully, due to school and other issues I missed the August meeting which was the third meeting for this year. If given another opportunity to continue serving as a Youth Commissioner, I promise to make you proud. Thank you for your vote of confidence in me, by having me in the first place I look forward to being able to serve you and my peers in the future.
