COMMISSIONER'S /PUBLIC ORALS ADJOURNMENT - TO NEXT REGULAR MEETING ON JULY 12, 1993 COMMUNITY ACCESAVISORY BOARD • MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF APRIL 12, 1993 The regular meeting of the Community Access Advisory Board of the City of Lynwood was held April 12, 1993 in the City Hall Conference Room. (The Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act.) Chairperson Ann A. Fields called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Members in attendance were Bill Cunningham, Ann A. Fields, and Ada McZeal. Commissioner Olympia Dudenhoeffer, and Ethel Pacheco were excused from the meeting. Staff present were Johonna Jacobs - Howard, and Silvia Lara. A MOMENT OF SILENCE WAS REQUESTED IN MEMORY OF DONALD MORRIS The minutes of the February 8, 1993, meeting were approved as received. I. OLD BUSINESS A. OUTCOME OF CABLE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM RECEPTION Commissioners mentioned that the Cable Internship Program Reception was great. Ms. McZeal suggested to have a Cable Intern Reception once a year for all Cable Interns and to contact School District to see if they can help with the cost. Motion made by Ms. McZeal second by Fields and Cunningham. II. PUBLIC ORALS - Ms. Howard announced that showcase viewing was not quite ready. Commissioners will be contacted next week to set date and time for viewing. - Mr. Cunningham inquired in regards to the update of the Inventory list of the cable equipment. Ms. Howard replied that the inventory list of the cable equipment will be included in next month's agenda for the commissioners' review. Mr. Cunningham requested permission to be excused for next meeting. Johonna Jacobs - Howard, Admin, SUBJECT: RESPONSE TO YOUR REQUESTS AT MAY IOTH MEETING I am providing you with the following information: ll1.AM..ICA CITY IIIIII 1) My request to the Interim City Manager for the purchase of a microwave and a refrigerator was denied on May 12, 1993 As directed by Chairperson Ann Fields at the Lynwood Showcase viewing on June 9, 1993, I will prepare the memorandum from the Cable Access Advisory Board and direct it to Councilman Louis Heine 2) I attempted to contact Hub Cities through our Human Resources Department, to obtain some clerical assistant for Ron E. Roberson at the Lynwood Cable Studio. I was informed that the State of California has not approved its contract with Los Angeles County for Hub Cities Consortium's Youth Job Program. To City Manager SUBJECT: LYNWOOD CABLE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM'S 3RD SESSION The Lynwood Cable Internship Program began its 3rd Session on May 11, 1993. The following is a list of the students who are participating under the tutelage of Ron E. Roberson. Ron is assisted by Arturo Campos. BEVERLY T. JONES EDWARD L. POZUCLOS • LYNWOOD CABLE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ADDENDUM DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CABLE CLERK: This criteria will be utilized when recruiting cable interns through the R.O.P. Program at Lynwood High School. 1. General Filing- paperwork, photographs, and other documents 2. Answering of telephones, taking of messages 3 Lite Typing- various forms, documents and logs 4 Scheduling- cable and photograph shoots 5 Making copies of paperwork as requested 6. Provide video production support as follows: A. Script B. Audio Monitoring C. Tape Log • • LYNWOOD CABLE PRODUCTION SERVICES ADULT TRAINING WORKSHOP PURPOSE: The City of Lynwood's Cable Production Services has established an Adult Training Workshop as a service to the Lynwood Community ADULT TRAINING WORKSHOP The Adult Workshop is a two (2) month on the job training program offered every Tuesday at 6 p.m. Adult participants are tramed in three (3) aspects of Video Production, single camera production, multi - camera production, and post - production (mobile unit and in- studio). The training workshop curriculum consists of the followmg: INTRODUCTION Why Public Access? What is local origination? How public access can be utilized. Tour of studio facilities; Lynwood and Downey; specific policies and guidelmes. VIDEO FUNDAMENTALS The videotape recorder, E.N G camera operation, the tripod camera mounting, and picture composition. INTERVIEWING FOR TELEVISION Hands -on mock interviews, criteria, question and review, in the field, clean- up of studio. MULTI - CAMERA SYSTEM Procedure for in- studio production, production set -up ADVANCE CAMERA TECHNIQUE- PICTURE COMPOSITION Rotate crew assignment, studio dry run, and terminology. DIRECTING Terminology, director's cues, audio cues, timing, script preparation, on -air directmg, and direct mock interview ADVANCE LIGHTING EXERCISE Technical lighting exercise, lighting objectives, lighting terminology, and chroma -key exercise. PRODUCE TELEVISION PROGRAM POST PRODUCTION Introduction to post - production, the editing system, finishing touches, titles and credits, character generator, planning the production/post production.
