Adjournment (a:yc3 -3) CITY OF LYNWOOD YOUTH COMMISSION OPENING CEREMONIES The City of Lynwood's Youth Commission met in a regular session on Wednesday, March 3, 1993 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lynwood Teen Resource Center, located at 11409 Birch Street. Chairperson Cornecia Banks presided. Roll Call Chairperson Cornecia Banks, Vice Chairperson Jesus Trigo, Commissioners Cameron Green, Daniel Haley, Alton Hamilton, and Michelle Zavala answered roll call. Commissioners Andre Agaalii, Siatua Agaalii, Sulu Ah- Ching, Joe Araujo, Maylene Hardin, and Jaime Perez did not answer roll call. Commissioner Siatua Agaalii and Andre Agaalii arrived at 6:10 Approval of Past Minutes It was moved by'Commissioner Zavala and seconded by Commissioner Green to approve the minutes of February 3, 1993. Motion carried. Certification of the Posting of the Agenda Recreation Staff Diana Escalante certified the posting of the agenda by the City Clerk. PROGRAM REPORTS Recreation and Parks Interim Recreation Director, Ralph Davis introduced Perry Brents, Facility and Programs Supervisor. Mr. Brents presented the activities of the After School Playground program to the Commission. Director Davis next introduced Recreation Leader Denise Haley who presented the Teen Center's upcoming events to the Commission. March 11 Community Awareness Meeting -Job Training March 20 Excursion to Magic Mountain March 27 Youth Summit /Dance /Youth Care Recreation Staff Diana Escalante distributed the minutes of the February Youth Council meeting to the commissioners. Youth Summit Ms. Escalante reminded the Commission about the Youth Summit scheduled for Saturday, March 27. She informed the commission, the Youth Summit committee is soliciting the commissioners to be workshop presenters. Chairperson Cornecia Banks recommended the commissioner be sent further information on the workshop and schedule for this day. Ms Escalante replied the information will be mailed. Vice Chairperson Jesus Trigo stated the Youth Commission should have had more input and more involvement for the Youth Summit. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES Ms. Escalante inquired if the commissioner had reviewed the goals and objective mailed with the minutes and agenda. The commission preferred this item be table until next meeting. ELECTIONS FOR 1993 -94 Ms. Escalante reminded the commission elections for Chairperson and Vice Chairperson will be at the April meeting. Commissioners are asked to think who they would like to elect. COMMUNITY AWARENESS MEETING The Community Awareness Meeting topic set for March 11 is on Job Training. ANTI- GRAFFITI DAY Ms. Escalante discussed the idea of sponsoring an large scale Anti - Graffiti Paint Out Day. She asked the commission which month would be most beneficial for them. Vice Chairperson Jesus Trigo recommended having the event in June. The commissioners agreed. ORAL COMMUNICATION PUBLIC ORALS None COMMISSION ORALS Commissioner Andre Agaalii apologized for being late Chairperson Cornecia Banks asked the commissioners to write down 3 events or programs, they would like to recommend at the Teen Center. 0 0 It was moved by Commissioner Green and seconded by Michelle Zavala to adjourn to the next regularly scheduled meeting on April 7, 1993. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
