A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE,FLORIDA,RECOGNIZING
MY BROTHER'S KEEPER COMMUNITY INITIATIVE
PROGRAM;PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in September2014,President Barack ObamalaunchedMy Brother's Keeper
Challenge Initiative tohelpeveryboy andyoungmanofcolortoreachtheir potential;and
WHEREAS,the Miami My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge encourages
communitiesto implementa coherent cradle-to-college-and-career ,strategyfor improvingthe life
outcomes of allyoungpeopleto ensure^that theymayreach their full potentid regardless ofwhothey
are, where they come from, or the circumstances into which they arebom; and
WBCEREAS,the Village of Key Biscayne wishes to be a part of the Miami My Brother's
Keeper CommunityChallengeInitiativeand provide its support to the programs developed to meet
that initiative.
NOW,THEMFORE,be it resolved by the VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.Recitals Adopted.Each of the above stated recitals are hereby adopted,
confirmed and incorporated herein.
Section 2.Village Support.The Village Council, on behalf of the Village of Key
Biscayne and all of its residents,wish to express its support of the Miami My Brother's Keeper
Community Challenge Initiative and to join in and participate with other.public and private groups,
which share in the vision of the President and all those who have joined in the effort,including
hundreds of local government leaders throughout the United States.
Section 3.Effective Date.This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of April,2016.
