DATE: September 6, 2005
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
Honorable Chair and Members of the Planning Commission
APPROVED BY: N. Enrique Martinez, City Manager
PREPARED BY: Grant Taylor, Director of Development Services 6T-
SUBJECT: Joint City Council / Planning Commission Meeting
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council and the Planning Commission conduct a joint
meeting to receive a presentation from staff, discuss and identify an architectural and
design character, development standards, materials, colors and off -site improvements.
Background:
The Planning Commission serves at the discretion of the City Council. Decisions of the
Planning Commission are critical as such land use decisions may impact the City for
years. In the decision making process, the Planning Commission is the "first responder"
in reviewing land use proposals and discretionary applications. The joint meeting
provides the Planning Commission an opportunity to participate in discussions and
receive first hand direction on the development vision for the City and where we want to
be in ten to twenty years.
Discussion & Analysis

Lynwood Planning Commission to be conducted jointly The consulting team consisting
of Daniellian Associates, LSA Associates and IMA Design will make a presentation that
