A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FINDING
THAT A PUBLIC PURPOSE WOULD BE SERVED BY APPROVING A FINANCIAL
SUBSIDY IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,350 FROM THE CITY COUNCIL'S
DISCRETIONARY FUND FOR THE LYNWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK WATCH
ORGANIZATION
WHEREAS, the mission of Lynwood Neighborhood Block Watch is to improve
the quality of life by reducing crime and violence with the City of Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, Neighborhood Block Watch is a crime prevention program which
enlists the active participation of residents in cooperation with law enforcement to
reduce crime in their neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Neighborhood Block Watch organization is composed
of Lynwood residents, including at least one representative from each Block Club; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood continuously supports Block Watch activities
including the Annual National Night Out event in August, and supports non - profit entities
that promote events that are beneficial to the community or otherwise provide a valid
and substantial public purpose within the mission of the City and demonstrate a need
for assistance; and
WHEREAS, City staff has made a determination that the request from
Neighborhood Block Watch to support the organization meets the criteria set forth in the
Donation /Fee Waiver Policy.
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council finds that the request for financial subsidy benefits
the community and finds the above recitals true and correct.
Section 2. The City Council approves the subsidy of $6,350 to the Lynwood
Neighborhood Block Watch Organization.
Section 3. The City Council approves that the expenditure of $6,350 ($1,270
per Councilmember) be deducted from each Council Members discretionary fund and
transferred to the Public Relations Department — Operating Supplies budget.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify the passage and adoption of this
Resolution.
