ORDINANCE NO. 11-2017
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF
A GRANT FROM ARTPLACE AMERICA
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any
documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any
other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive
administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the
legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any
monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, A National Foundation known as ArtPlace America has grant funding available
through its National Grants Program and if said funds are awarded to the City, the
Department of Infrastructure and Development wishes to use the grant to fund a
capital art project that is to be determined through a community committee; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Department of Infrastructure and Development has submitted
or will submit a grant application to obtain funds for a capital art project to be
determined through a community committee; and
WHEREAS, No local match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
The City of Richmond Department of Infrastructure and Development has submitted or
will submit, as authorized by IC 36-1-4-10, a grant application to ArtPlace America.
2. The City of Richmond Department of Infrastructure and Development is authorized to
accept said grant funding in an amount up to Five Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero
Cents ($500,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded, shall be appropriated to fund a capital art project to be
determined through a community committee.
