AN ORDINANCE TO AUND ARTICLE V OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, RICHW0ND, 1NDIANA, SEC173[CN
41.31 DEMEAStt OF STATE LAW MAXIbUN, SPEED.
WHEREAS, the Traffic Division of the Richmond, Indiana Police Department has
made a survey of the traffic along and upon South "E" Street from Sau th 23rd
Street to Henley Road South and recommended that the Speed Limit in said area
be reduced from 30 M.P.H. to 20 IdI.P.H., and,
WHEREAS, the Traffic Division of the Richmond, Indiana Police Department has
made a survey of the traffic along and upon Elks Road from East Main Street
north to the north city limits, and recommnended that the Speed Limit in said
area be reduced from 30 K.P�H., to. 20 M.P.H,, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety on the 18th day of July, 1963 did
approve the Speed Limit be reduced from 30 M.P.H. to 20 VIsP.H3 on South "E"
Street from South 23rd Street to Henley Road South and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Public storks and Safety on the 29th day of august, 1966
did approve the Speed Limit be reduced from 30 M,,P.H. to 20 M.P.H. on the Elks
Road from East Wain Street north to the north City Limits, and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana
SF_CTION 1. That Chapter 41, Article V Section 41.31 of the Municipal Coda cf
Richmond, Indiana, be and the same is hereby amended to woad as follows:
Chapter 41
Speed Regulations
41.31 DECREASE OF STATE LAW s iAXTNIUPw SPEED. It is hereb`, determined upon
the basis of an engineering and traffic Investigation that the speed permitted
by state lays outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the
following streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions
found to exist upon su..h streets and it is hereby declared that the meximum
speed limit shall be 20 miles per hour as herein s..t forth on those streets or
parts of streets herein designated at the times herein specified when signs are
erected giving notice thereof.
1. South 6th Street from South "B" Street o South "D" Street.
2. South 14th Street from South "B" Street to South "D" Street.
3. Southeast Parkway frow South 23rd Street to Henley Road, south.
4. Northwest "L" Street from Sheridan Street to Northwest 5th Street.
5. Peacock Road from Northwest 5th Street to Northwest 8th Street.
6. Whitewater Boulevard from Southwest 1st Street to Southwest "G" Street.
7. Southwest 1st Street from National Road West to Southwest "E" Street.
6. South 5th Street from South "A!' Street to South "D" Street.
9. Bridge Avenue from North 8th Street to Sheridan Street.
10. South "E" Street from South 23rd Street to Henley Road South.
11. Elks Road from East Main Street north to the north City Limits.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval by the Mayor of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
