A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AWARDING
A CONTRACT TO J.A. SALAZAR CONSTRUCTION & SUPPLY CORPORATION AS
THE APPARENT LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, IN THE AMOUNT NOT -TO-
EXCEED $522,775, FOR THE MULFORD AVENUE WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT, PROJECT NUMBER 4011.67.927; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS
DESIGNEE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY FUNDS APPROPRIATION AND
TRANSFER
WHEREAS, the Mulford Avenue Water Main Improvement Project (Phases I &
II), Project No. 4011.67.927 is scheduled for completion during fiscal year (FY) 2011-
2012 and is financed with $366,000 of Water Funds; and
WHEREAS, Public Works staff advertised the project on April 19, 2012 and April
26, 2012 in two newspapers of general circulation, printed and published in the City, per
Lynwood Municipal Code Section 6 -6.7; and
WHEREAS, thirty -two contractors received project plans and contract
documents; and
WHEREAS, the bid opening took place in the Office of the City Clerk on May 3,
2012, and nine contractors submitted bids; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works / City Engineer has ascertained that
J.A. Salazar Construction & Supply Corporation is the apparent lowest responsible
bidder at $522,775, and
WHEREAS, the project total construction cost estimate is $653,469; and
WHEREAS, Public Works staff has identified an additional funding source that
will supplement the project budget of $287,000; and
WHEREAS, a reference check has revealed that this contractor has the
necessary experience and contractor's license for this type of project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the contract for the Mulford Avenue Water Main Improvement
Project (Phases I & II), Project No. 4011.67.927, be awarded to J.A. Salazar
Construction & Supply Corporation for its low bid of $522,775.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the agreement
between the City of Lynwood and J.A. Salazar Construction & Supply Corporation.
Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to make the
following funds appropriation and transfer:

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
