RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
TO SUPPORT MEASURE "0"ON THE JUNE 2008
SAN MATEO COUNTY BALLOT TO INCREASE SALES
TAX BY ONE-EIGHTH CENT FOR PARKS AND OPEN SPACE
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District considers
the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of parks and open space to be vital to the quality
of life of San Mateo County residents; and,
WHEREAS, park and open space in San Mateo County and park programs are essential in meeting
park and open space needs of County residents; and,
WHEREAS, today's parks and associated recreation programs play a significant role in communities;
and,
WHEREAS, natural open space areas offer us solitude, nourishment of the soul and beauty as well as
critical habitat for native plants and animals; and,
WHEREAS, open space provides essential functions in water quality and supply and flood control; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed measure would provide funds for the County, special districts and city
parks within San Mateo County.
NOW,TUEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula
Regional Open Space District supports Measure"0" on the June 2008 ballot for a one-eighth cent
(1/8%) sales tax increase in San Mateo County to secure dedicated revenues to support the parks, open
space and recreation-related activities of San Mateo County, its cities and special districts.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space
District on April 9, 2008 at a Regular Meeting thereof, by the following vote:
AYES: Jed Cyr, Mary Davey, Larry Hassett, Curt Riffle, Pete Siemens
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: None
ABSENT: Nonette Hanko, Ken Nitz
