Code Enforcement Officers noticed debris and materials at two construction sites on the 100 Block of Camden Drive. requirements. CEOs issued the property owners code violation warnings with instructions on Criminal Investigations The Criminal Investigations Division continues its investigation into a bank fraud case involving a loss of approximately $10,000.00. The fraud involved three bank transfers paid to unidentified parties. Detectives worked with the State Attorney’s Office to obtain a subpoena for pertinent bank records as they attempt to follow the money trail to the suspects. Detectives served the response. Detectives investigated a harassing phone call case. The investigation revealed the victim and suspect are ex-spouses. The victim reported the incident for documentation purposes only and requested no further action by the Bal Harbour Police Department. Detectives provide the matter further. depicting an unknown suspect shoplifting in the sto Detectives distributed a flyer with the available image to neighboring jurisdictions in an attempt to develop further leads. Detectives assisted loss prevention officers from a retailer in the Bal Harbour Shops with a fraud investigation involving unauthorized use of a credit card. Detectives used the available video to prepare a need-to-identify flyer and distributed the flyer to neighboring jurisdictions. Facial BHPD Weekly Report Week #29 July 24, 2020 Page 5 Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service 07/17/2020 Hazardous Condition 10200 Block of Collins Avenue A concerned citizen flagged down a Bal Harbour police officer and informed him that the ADA curb grip pad on the sidewalk was loose. The pad was located near the Ritz-Carlton loading dock and upon inspection, the officer determined that it posed a hazard. Public Works was notified and the area was 07-18-2020 Suspicious Person 9700 Collins Avenue Officers were dispatched to a possible theft in progress in the Prada store. Officers contacted the store manager who told them that the suspect placed two pieces of merchandise inside of his bag without purchasing them. The manager confronted the suspect, who told the manager he was just looking and did not intend to purchase anything. The merchandise was placed back on the shelf and the suspect 07-19-2020 Theft 9700 Collins Avenue While conducting a surveillance audit, loss prevention personnel at Neiman Marcus discovered two females entering the Gucci boutique surveillance footage placing the ring on her finger and exiting the store without paying. Neiman Marcus loss prevention provided a copy of the footage and it was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations 07/23/2020 Sick Person Assist 10200 Block of Collins Avenue While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a homeless male on a bus bench, who appeared ill. The male informed the officer that he was experiencing COVID-like symptoms. The officer- maintained distance and requested Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, who transpor hospital. Public Works was notified of the possible contamination and immediately sanitized the bus 07/23/2020 Hazardous Condition Gas Leak 10275 Collins Avenue A concerned citizen reported a strong odor of gas in the area of the North Lot. Bal Harbour police officers conducted an area canvass and discovered a possible gas leak at the commercial meter that services the Harbour House. Miami-Dade Fire Department responded and requested Company.
