Subject: Update on November 3, 2020 Candidate Qualifying
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you that the Qualifying Period for
the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election, which began on Monday, August 10,
2020 at 9:00 AM, closed today Friday, August 14, 2020 at 5:00 PM.
Councilman Jeffrey Freimark, District 2, and Councilman David Albaum, District 4, have
both qualified and are both unopposed. Per Florida Statutes 101.151(7) “the names of
unopposed candidates shall not appear on the general election ballot. Each unopposed
candidate shall be deemed to have voted for himself…”
Councilman Freimark and Councilman Albaum will be inducted into office for their second
terms on Monday, November 16, 2020.
Our Special Election for a Charter amendment question regarding single-family building
heights is still scheduled for November 3, 2020.
The Village Council is also scheduled to ratify the results of the certification of the petition
submitted by the committee “The Future of Bal Harbour” on September 15, 2020, the
resolution of which would call for a special election in January of 2021.
