HomeMy Public PortalAboutLTC 118-2020 - Tropical Storm - Laura - Attachment TROPICAL STORM LAURA ADVISORY #01-20 08.21.20 4 PM • The Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management is monitoring Tropical Storm (TS) Laura in the Atlantic Ocean, currently 175 miles ESE of the Northern Leeward Islands. Laura is moving W at 18 MPH with maximum sustained winds of 45 MPH and with a continued trajectory moving further South and away from the Florida peninsula. Tropical Storm Watches are possible sometime on Saturday, August 22. • Bal Harbour Village is implementing its hurricane plan, and residents are urged to monitor weather reports, implement their personal hurricane plans and prepare accordingly. • The Village Emergency Management Team has implemented their hurricane plan, and will be monitoring the situation and provide community updates as necessary. • Public Works is actively checking storm drains and removing debris from our streets. • Residents should not add any items or debris to the curb that could become projectiles during the storm. • Condominium residents are encouraged to remove any items from their balconies that could become projectiles during the storm. • All contractors have been instructed to secure their sites in preparation for the storm. • We continue to urge residents to sign up for Bal Harbour Alerts, which will be sent directly to your cell phone.
