HomeMy Public PortalAboutLTC 136-2020 Commendation from Mr. Tommy Gonzalez OFFICE OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER LETTER TO COUNCIL NO. 136-2020 TO: Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council FROM: Jorge M. Gonzalez, Village Manager DATE: October 2, 2020 SUBJECT: Compliment from Resident Mr. Tommy Gonzalez –Parks and Public Spaces and Police The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to share with you a commendation e-mail I received from Mr. Tommy Gonzalez, a resident of Bal Harbour Village. Mr. Gonzalez complimented the professionalism and dedication of Parks and Public Spaces personnel Jason Atkinson, Bryan Bucher, Roger Daniels, William Junquera and Police Lt. Oscar Amago. On Friday, September 18, 2020, Mr. Gonzalez, who was out of town, was contacted by his wife and advised that a large tree on their property had fallen and was blocking their driveway. Mr. Gonzalez contacted Jason Atkinson for some guidance who offered to respond and help move some branches to make the driveway accessible. The following day Lt. Oscar Amago responded to the residence and determined that the conditions presented a safety hazard and ensured that the crew hired by Mr. Gonzalez were granted access as it was a holiday on which work was restricted. Lt. Amago also coordinated with the neighbors and communicated the nature of the work. The following Monday, Jason Atkinson and his team responded to the Gonzalez residence to follow-up and ensure the driveway was clear. The efforts displayed by our Village team reflect our commitment to the Bal Harbour Experience, by ensuring the safety and beautiful environment of our community. A copy of Mr. Gonzalez’s email is attached. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, John Oldenburg or Chief Flowers at 305.866.5000. This past Friday as I was out of town my wife called me to inform me that a tree had fallen in the driveway and she was not able to get out.(late Friday afternoon) Due to me not been there I called I called Jason and asked him if he could advise what to do. He immediately responded that if I can have some of the branches move he will come over and help, well.. been late Friday I had no choice but to try to get someone there on Saturday which became an issue do to ROSH HASHANAH and no help was allowed into the Village. My wife reached out to OFFICER LIEUTENANT OSCAR AMAGO to see what could be done .. he immediately came to the house and had seen that it was necessary to make way in the driveway for safety purposes and allowed the entrance of the help, at the same time he approach the neighbors to make sure that there were no issues and they all agreed to proceed . Minimal work was done in order to respect the neighbors observing ROSH HASHANAH. On monday Jason and co workers ,,,, Bryan, Roger and William assisted my wife in making sure that the driveway was clear for her. I must compliment everyone involved in their fast support and assistant. We are so happy to live here where the typical beurocratic government does not apply........ Just help our fellow citizens and neighbors. They all should be properly rewarded when time comes. If I can ever be of assistant please feel free to contact me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
