AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE
UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The United States Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Cleanup Grant
Program has grant funding available; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to assist with the costs
associated with environmental remediation in a portion of the Starr-Gennett area in
the Whitewater Valley Gorge; and
WHEREAS, a 20% local match is required for this grant to be provided by the Indiana Finance
Authority Federal Grant Matching Incentive Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond is hereby authorized to submit a grant application to the United
States Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Cleanup Grant Program to assist with the
costs associated with environmental remediation in a portion of the Starr-Gennett area in the
Whitewater Valley Gorge.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to
Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated for assistance
with the costs associated with environmental remediation in a portion of the Starr-Gennett
area in the Whitewater Valley Gorge.

of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
