COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
ORDINANCE NO. 52-2017
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT
FROM THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any
documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any
other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive
administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the
legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any
monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, The Indiana Department of Transportation has federal grant funding available
through the Local Public Agency Program; and
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to obtain funds that will
be used to fund a trail connector that will connect the Gorge Trail to the Cardinal
Greenway Trail; and
WHEREAS, A twenty percent (20%) local match is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as
follows:
1. The City of Richmond in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10 has or will submit a grant
application to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for the federal Local Public Agency Program.
2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Nine
Hundred Twenty-six Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($926,000.00).
3. The local match of Two Hundred Thirty-one Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero
Cents ($231,500.00) will be requested from the Richmond Redevelopment Commission.
4. Said grant funding shall be used to fund a trail connector that will connect the Gorge Trail
to the Cardinal Greenway Trail.
