The operator of the grappler has to load the shredder as needed. A hydraulically raised and lowered chute is used as a buffer zone. The chute goes up to move the material to the shredding rotors. The chute is operated via remote control. The two shafts run against each other in a fixed gear fashion. This method prevents large pieces from making It through the shredder. Even when reversing, counter arms cut the material.
