This is the red steel post sticking out of the ground approximately four feet that was beside the fire hydrant. The County Fire Inspector has agreed to let us relocate the PIV closer to the building but not remove.( See Proposal) A recommendation if agreed upon by the Mayor, Yourself and Chief Sasser would be for me to request a variance through Planning & Zoning. If the variance is granted, have the PIV Completely removed by the Water / Sewer Department. There would still be a small charge for Champion Fire to disconnect the alarm. Brown Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 12:49 PM To: Diane Schleicher Cc: Jason Buelterman; Skip Sasser Subject: Fire Hydrant in Memorial Park Importance: High Diane, The Fire Hydrant located in Memorial park adjacent to the Gym can be removed in house by the Water /Sewer Department, this will include the 2 cutoff valves which protrude out of the ground. The Post Indicator Valve ( Red Post) approximately 3 foot high is part of the fire sprinkler system and I have met on site with Ray Hord, Chatham County Fire Marshal and a technician from Champion Fire protection. Both the Fire Marshall and Champion Technician are reviewing codes etc and will recommend the best and least expensive way to proceed with removal or relocation. I will pass this information on when received. The Fire Hydrant removal has no bearing on the decision involving the Post Indicator Valve and can be removed now. Chief Sasser, Ray Hord, Chatham County Fire Marshall all agree to the removal of the fire hydrant. PLEASE ADVISE ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO PROCEED AT THIS TIME FOR THE FIRE HYDRANT REMOVAL AND I WILL PUT IN FOR A PERMIT AND WORK ORDER. 1
